Updated Pool Policies and Announcements
Updated Pool Policies and Announcements
On June 28th a Pool Town Hall was held to clarify announcements made on June 24th to address increased alcohol and other banned items being brought into all pool areas. Thank you to all who attended and wrote in to have your comments, concerns and recommendations heard. The rule as stated in our Rules, Regulations and Handbook is as follows:
XIV. Lake, Pool, Beach and designated Swimming area regulations (Amended 10/4/2013) states:
Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety, supervision, and conduct of their children while swimming in the lake or pool. All persons swim at their own risk, at all times, even when there is a lifeguard present.
B. Pool Regulations:
5. No pets, food, gum, glass, breakable objects, smoking, or beverages are permitted in the pool.
This rule has been in effect for many years. Our announcements on June 24th are not rule changes, but a change to our policies to enforce the rule(s) at all pools. Beverages other than water have never been allowed in pool areas. Based on feedback from members we have updated our policy with your input.
- Clear “containers” will be allowed. Examples are: clear water bottles, clear Tervis cups, clear work out bottles, etc. The item must be clear to allow staff to see that beverages are not being brought into pool areas, only water.
- Clear bags will remain necessary to enter all pool areas to allow staff to ensure food and beverages are not entering pools.
- Exceptions are:
- Baskets will be available at the gate if needed
- Mes see-through bags
- Diaper bags
- Bags containing medical items due to a health-related condition
- Bogg bags containing a clear, removable organizer that fits inside
- Bags small enough to only contain cell phones, member cards, driver’s licenses, etc.
- Exceptions are:
- Additional signs are being placed along the area where people line up for pools that state what the rules are.
- No food or snacks
- No beverages; Only water allowed
- No verbal abuse of lifeguards
- Violators will be removed and fined by PSO
- 1st violation – 30-day restriction from entering all pools and a fine
- 2nd violation – 1-year restriction from entering all pools and a fine
