COVID-19 Park Restart Plan-Phase 1-Member Access Process

In response to an extremely high volume of phone calls and emails regarding Member and single household access to the park, Sandy Pines will be implementing the following process below.  As Sandy Pines is short-staffed and is limiting entrance through only the Main Gate and Phase 3 Gate to ensure compliance, Members and their immediate household must comply with all of the following:

  1. Park access starts Friday, May 1, 2020, 7:00am.
  2. Members must comply with Executive Order (“EO”) 59 which states “all public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring among persons not part of a single household are prohibited”, unless it is to care for a member of the household.
  3. Members with adult children, who are part of their single household, wishing to access the park must be in the same vehicle or have a member in 2 separate vehicles to access. This is needed during this timeframe due to the high expected volume.
  4. Members must make certain their member cards are active. Any members trying to use inactive member cards at the gates will be asked to leave and return later once the card is active.
  5. Associate members who are part of single household with a Member must have a member with them to access Sandy Pines.
  6. Individuals who are asked to leave and/or return later, that choose to proceed into the park anyway, will be assessed point violations and fines.
  7. All members remain responsible for their own compliance with EO 59 and other EOs.
  8. Please take the quick survey below to let us know what time you plan on accessing the park this weekend so we can plan accordingly.

Please understand that to encourage compliance with EO 59 and for the safety and efficiency of our staff and members, we are requiring members to abide by the above. Due to the applicable Executive Orders, Sandy Pines is short-staffed and trying to accommodate an anticipated high volume of members who wish to access their site over the next few days.

Sandy Pines will continue to evaluate current and future processes, situations and responses, including the above, as the situation remains fluid and subject to change and/or new guidance. Accordingly, Sandy Pines reserves the right to make updates and adjustments to this process as necessary, including closing access to the park if needed.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, cooperation and grace during this time of coming back to our Happy Place. For additional details on Step 1 of our Park Restart Process and Frequently Asked Questions, visit sandypines.com/ParkRestart01

Park Access Survey

We expect a high volume of members accessing the park this weekend. Due our limited staff we are encouraging members to let us know when they plan on accessing the park to help us avoid back ups at the main entrance. Please take this survey and let us know when you plan on accessing the park. At the completion of the survey, responses will be shown. If you selected one of the busiest times to access the park, please plan for possible delays at the main entrance. Better yet, we recommend adjusting your plans to access the park at a time with a lower demand. Thank you for your continued patience as we continue working through these challenging times.

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 4:49 pm

$1,500 fine 2nd violation (Membership subject to termination)

I’m coming in Friday after work and I need a new sticker for the car. Can I make an appointment for Saturday to get this done?

  2. Deatrice Reeves on April 30, 2020 at 4:32 pm

My card should be active..how can I confirm?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 4:48 pm

If you paid your dues and are not 60 days past due or more, your cards will be active.

  3. Dave Hires on April 30, 2020 at 4:32 pm

Can we just not open for awhile yet! We are members and live on L.M.G.C. Not planning on coming this weekend even though live only 3 min away. Alegain has been pretty tame up to this point would like to give it a little more time. I know some don’t take this as seriously as they should. Good luck and stay safe. Common sense!!!!

  4. Mike Keller on April 30, 2020 at 4:34 pm

My wife and I will be entering the park on Saturday in separate vehicles for our one site. She has a new car and will need a new sticker. Normally in the past this was handled as we entered the front gate. I am assuming she still will be able to obtain one when she enters. Is this correct?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 4:46 pm

Assuming you’re both members, you can enter in two separate vehicles. Any associates that are immediate family/household members would need to be in the car with a member to get access to the park, they would not be able to enter in their own cars.

Yes, she can get a new car sticker at the Main Gate Public Safety Office upon arrival.

Since we can’t see the busiest times until after we make our selection, how do we make a change in the survey? I tried to go back into the survey to select a better time,
but a message says that I have already taken the survey and doesn’t allow entry!

Between 1 and 1:30 on Friday Same on Saturday.

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 4:47 pm

Please submit that information on the survey so all of our information is in one location.

I am in phase 5. Will water be on there by Sunday? Will cc be open for use? Thanks!

      • Sandy Pines on May 1, 2020 at 11:56 am

Water is on now for everyone. Open CC’s include
        Phase 1:             CC 2
        Phase 3:             CC 5
        Phase 4:             CC 10
        Phase 5:             CC 11
        Phase 5/6:         The Recreation Station

        • Rhiannon on May 2, 2020 at 9:59 am

Why is there not a CC open in Phase 2?

          • Janet Mounsey on May 5, 2020 at 10:46 am

Yes. I am wondering the same?

Thank you for everything you are doing. It is truly appreciated. Since adult household members may come in only in our cars, but realisticly will not travel back and forth with us… Can them parking and meeting at the golf course be allowed so we can bring them in our car. It is not realistic to think the time frames will match to drive from home together. I ask that you understand that I am asking in order to obey all rules. Thank you

  7. Cindi Pedersen on April 30, 2020 at 4:49 pm

Mike and I are so thankful for your hard work and informative updates. May “be kind” be the attitude of all you those encounter during the opening of our happy place.

The Governor says that campgrounds may not open until a later date. I’m not quite understanding how it is possible for the Pines to open before that?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 5:20 pm

We are a community and a campground. Members (home owners) may access the community May 1. Recreational campers won’t be able to access the park until June 1 under current restrictions.

  9. Cathy Bieber on April 30, 2020 at 4:58 pm

When will laundry facilities. Be open?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 5:17 pm

      All laundromats are open

      • Nancy pifer on April 30, 2020 at 5:38 pm

My dad is the member but doesn’t drive. We need something from his lot. If he comes with us are we able to get to our site to pickup our wheelbarrow and then leave.

    • Mitch Gibson on April 30, 2020 at 5:21 pm

What about seasonal members?? We never were able to get our cards

  10. Nancy Bierenga on April 30, 2020 at 5:08 pm

Do Phase 3 people come to the main gate or to our gate?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 5:22 pm

Phase 3 Members can proceed directly to the Phase 3 gate. Member cards are activated if not 60 days past due. All Associate Member Cards have been deactivated through June 1.

  11. Thomas Bernott on April 30, 2020 at 5:12 pm

Earlier it said adult children living outside the home would be permitted. My daughter and her husband are of course associate members. Can they come into the park with me tomorrow in a following vehicle? Or, if not in two vehicles, can they come in if we are all in the same car?

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 5:26 pm

That is correct, your daughter is a member of your immediate family so she and her husband will be allowed to enter only if they are in the vehicle with you, the member. They will not be able to enter as associate members in a separate vehicle.

      • Kris Reed on May 23, 2020 at 10:41 am

I was at the phase to phase this morning and it was said that only immediate family in your same household can enter with you? The above statement is saying that our adult children are immediate family and can enter with us in our vehicle, it does not say anything about being in our household, can you let us know which correct. Just want to make sure that I am following what is correct. Based on the above statement we have brought our son and grandson in and want to make sure if that can continue. Thank yiu

        • Sandy Pines on May 26, 2020 at 5:24 pm

Yes, we are working on clarification of this.

  12. Mitch Gibson on April 30, 2020 at 5:21 pm

What about seasonal members?? We never were able to get our cards

  13. Leonard Matras on April 30, 2020 at 5:35 pm

Why are we short handed? I would think that the staff that was layed off would be glad to be back to work.

    • Sandy Pines on April 30, 2020 at 6:49 pm

They will be coming back on Monday, May 4th.

      • Mitch Gibson on April 30, 2020 at 7:44 pm

Could you please advise on what seasonal site people with no cards should do? It was published that we could also gain entry on the 1st

        • Sandy Pines on May 1, 2020 at 12:04 pm

Please contact the Main Gate Public Safety Office at 616.896.9006 before your planned arrival to the park.

  14. Paul Witte on April 30, 2020 at 9:16 pm

How do you reconcile the definition of Immediate Household: ’Adult Children – …adults who may live outside the household, but are immediate family’ with this answer to a previous question: ‘ If your daughter and her husband are not a member of your immediate household, they will not be allowed to enter in separate cars or with you.’ ? Can you answer whether married children and/or their spouses ‘living outside the household’ are allowed to enter with you in the same car to help open your site up? I do appreciate all the work you’re putting into answering tough and difficult questions. Your answer will help me answer the survey.

    • Sandy Pines on May 1, 2020 at 12:36 pm

      Immediate Family/Household members include:
      -Father/Mother/Children in same household
-Adult Children – College students living away from home, adults who may live outside the household, but are immediate family
      -Grandchildren

We were incorrect in stating that the daughter and husband wouldn’t be able to enter with the members. They would only be able to enter the park if they were in a vehicle with either member. They would not be able to enter the park in their own vehicle without a member present.

So as members, you and your spouse/partner would be able to bring your children, their spouse and grandchildren into the park as long as they were in either of your vehicles. You are only allowed up to 8 members of your immediate family/household at any given time.

Hope that helps clarify the confusion!

      • Paul Witte on May 1, 2020 at 2:11 pm

        Yes, that’s clear. Thanks!

  17. Randy Miller on May 1, 2020 at 7:44 pm

Have the April statements actually gone out?
Will the main office be open Saturday?
Will we be able to put our pontoon in the water this coming week?

  18. Al Schober on May 1, 2020 at 8:27 pm

Has site cleanup date been changed? I must have missed that info

So if associate members have to be with a member to enter, the member is unable to travel at this time so how do I accomplish site cleanup?

Has the date changed for golf cart registration?

I have emailed several times and have received no response about a list of vendors to install the plates

Is the online registration for golf carts active? The website says it is but I clicked thru all menus and did not see it. This was also part of the unanswered emails.

  19. Jackie Nelson on May 2, 2020 at 8:00 am

We are new members and only my husband got his card. How/when can I get my card so I can get in without him?

  20. Jen Daly on May 2, 2020 at 9:59 am

We are fairly new members and have not gone through the renewal process yet. We have our dues paid but just noticed that our member card renewals, golf cart stickers/plates and our boat slip renewal was all put on our account back in March. The system will not let me pay online, keeps coming up with a blank page when I click on “online billing”. Will our member cards be inactive because we have not paid the renewal yet on them?

  21. Judy Fishaw on May 2, 2020 at 10:55 am

We are planning on coming back from Florida around the 13th/14th of this month. Do we quarantine for 2 weeks? We have sheltered in place here since March. Only out to doctor or for essentials. We have not been ill and nobody in our small motorcoach community has been ill. We are traveling back up in our coach and only one stop for fuel will be necessary no hotel stops.
Totally confused by your governor’s exec orders.
Is there a limit to how long we can stay in the park? We are full timers in our coach.
Will we be able to go to Lowe’s for yard items?
Will we be able to put our boat in the water?
Will we be able to change pump outs to weekly until Cc’s/ laundry open for use?
    Thanks

We are extended family of members; we have reservations for the end of June, one campsite, one trailer. Can we plan on the trip still being on as it stands? If not, what is the refund process?

  23. Randy Miller on May 4, 2020 at 5:14 pm

When can we put our boats in ?
Why is the boat ramp closed?

So sales department not back until May 4th?

  25. Barb Stanley on May 20, 2020 at 10:58 pm

Wow! There’s a lot of confusion between The Restart Plan and the Park’s replies to the members’ comments on this page. I’m afraid there’s going to be conflict and problems this Memorial Day weekend if someone from the Park doesn’t clear the confusion up immediately.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but the first paragraph under the PARK RESTART PLAN – STEP 1 MEMBER ACCESS PROCESS at the top of this page that states the Executive Order for the State of Michigan says, “all public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring among persons not part of a single household are prohibited”. I think the guidelines we are supposed to be following at home for the month of May are also true of the Park. That would mean only Members and adult children who are PART OF A SINGLE HOUSEHOLD, meaning those persons who live together in the same house, are allowed in the Park. That includes adult children who live with the Members, and children who may live away from home for part of the time, possibly at college, but are considered part of the Members’ household. That doesn’t include children, married and single, who don’t live in the same household with the Members. That doesn’t include grandchildren who don’t live in the same household with the Members.

In the May Footprints, under Park President News by Jeffery Sweitzer, it also says Step 1 Restart Plan: 5/1/20 allows Members and Immediate Household Only, while Step 2 Restart Plan: 6/1/20 allows Associates, Non-Immediate Household Members, and Guests.

Because of the conflicting replies by the Park, people are thinking they can take their children and grandchildren who are Associate Members into the Park if they either enter the Park in the Member’s car or they enter the Park with the Member in their car. Again, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that’s true. I think the Park administration and staff who understand the guidelines DO NOT want Associates in the Park until Step 2 Restart Plan: 6/1/20 when all Associates, Non-Immediate Household Members, and Guests have access to the Park.

I would like my children and grandchildren in the Park this coming Memorial Day weekend, but I know if we don’t want problems with the state and local government who have the authority to close the Park, we better follow their guidelines, and the Park better make them clear. If they don’t, they can’t be using their authority this weekend and issuing fines, etc., because right now there is not a clear understanding of what is and isn’t allowed this coming Memorial Day weekend, and it’s because of their conflicting information.

Right now, from what I’m reading in the replies, all Members, their children who are Associate Members, and grandchildren are allowed in the Park this Memorial Day weekend if they either enter the Park in the Member’s car or they enter the Park with the Member in their car. If that’s not correct and the Park tries to enforce the guidelines stated in the Michigan Executive Order, the Park is going to have angry people, big problems, and possibly issues with the state and local government. We don’t want any of that to happen!

The Park needs to address this immediately.
