Remembering Lon Arndt

Remembering Lon Arndt

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Lon Arndt.

Lon served as the Maintenance Supervisor at Sandy Pines for more than 40 years, dedicating his life and labor to this place long before it became the campground so many of us love today. In fact, Lon worked here even before Sandy Pines was a campground—back when the land was still an onion farm. Lon poured his heart into this park. The care, pride, and attention he gave to Sandy Pines helped shape it into what it is today. We are truly standing on the foundation of his faithful work. Although Lon retired in 2014, his impact continues to be felt through the countless lives he touched—staff, members, and visitors alike. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of this place.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Lon’s family during this time of loss. We are grateful for his many years of service and faithful dedication.

Thank you, Lon, for all you gave to Sandy Pines. You will be deeply missed.
