Sandy Pines Recreation Staff

By: Nikki Hoogewind

The summer is here and people in the park are active. Recreation is happy to be able to provide as many fun and enjoyable activities as possible with extra safety restrictions and precautions.  Highlights from June include tennis and golf lessons, Zumba and the opening of the pools and water park.  We also offered our drive-in movie, cruise the pines car parade, color the pines pink, live music event, mileage club, tie-dye, soccer, and park garage sales.

For the month of July, we are planning to kick off the month with Color the Pines: Red, White, and Blue. Decorate your lot or golf cart and submit a photo for our park wide contest.  Keep those colors flowing and enter your golf cart, float, car, or bike into our Fourth of July parade.  We encourage all members to join in the parade through Sandy Pines.  Participants meet at the water park parking lot between 9-9:30 am for judging and the parade will begin at 10:00 am on July 4. Holiday tournaments will be offered, see the online event calendar SandyPines.com/Calendar for exact times and locations, details will also be included on the Weekly Flyer. The amazing fireworks display is tentatively set to appear over Lake Monterey Saturday, July 4 at dusk.

The month of July will continue to offer events including a drive-in movie, blood drive, Halloween and end the month setting up for Christmas in August. Members are encouraged to purchase candy to pass out at the chapel for Halloween on July 25.  This event is very popular with the children and we need as many people to sit on their cart and pass out treats to the children as they parade past in costumes! Volunteers are also welcome to assist in setting up for Christmas. Please stop by the large display and tables near phase 4 soccer field if interested the week of July 27.

The Happy Shack is open Sun-Thur 11-6 and Fri-Sat 11-7. Stop by and purchase a fountain beverage, smoothie, snack, food item, or Sandy Pines clothing item. Staff is happy to see and serve our members and guests.

The Pools are open to limited number of guests per hour. We appreciate the patience of the guests waiting and the opportunity to provide you a chance to cool off and relax. See Pool flyer for exact hours, locations, and capacities.

Please remember the following pool rules:

  • No food or beverages are allowed inside the pool areas.
  • All children 36″ or less must be wearing a proper swim diaper (or any child that is not fully potty trained).
  • Life jackets are required on any child that has not passed the swim test and under the height of 48″.
