COVID-19 Park Restart Plan-Step 2

To our valued Sandy Pines Members and Community. We wanted to provide an update as we approach June 1st and Step 2 of our 3 Step Park Restart Plan. Thank you to all who continue to support us in following each of these steps. It is critical that Sandy Pines continue to implement the plan to gain confidence from our State, County, and local officials. As we all know, campgrounds are closed. We have worked hard with our State, County, and local officials to allow Member access to our wonderful park.  As with any plan, its success is based on our entire community and members implementing it safely.

Effective June 1, 2020

  • Associate(s) card(s) will be reactivated for park access to enjoy their residence with their Members
    • Site limit remains 8 people per site in accordance with State of Michigan DNR campground requirements
  • All remaining CC’s will be open. This is ahead of our Step 3 July 1st date and is to accommodate the sanitation needs of increasing our community to include Associate(s)
    • Based on staffing needs CC’s will remain 8 am – 2 am
    • In the event of severe weather/emergencies, all CC’s/storm shelters will be open between 2 am-8 am
    • We are working to adjust those hours based on feedback received from the membership
  • Events have been added to the June calendar. All updates are available at sandypines.com/calendar  Details will also be communicated on our Weekly Flyers and E-News
  • Lake Monterey Golf Carts installed with separation shields to allow non-household members to share a cart while golfing

Effective June 15, 2020

  • Phase 3 Gate to be fully staffed
  • Guests allowed in the park
    • Guest Pass Policy for the safety of our PSO Staff and to limit interaction between Staff and Guests
      • Members complete guest pass online and print out at home and/or send to their guests
      • $5.00 Charge will be applied to Member account
      • Guest arrives at Main Gate or Phase 3 Gate with printed pass, shows ID at gate; eliminates PSO handling of paper back and forth between guests as well as face to face interaction
      • IF Guest arrives without pass, PSO must print Guest Pass from PSO desk, handle all paper and interact with Guest face to face, $15.00 charge will be applied to Member account
    • Camping targeted to reopen
    • Guests access and Camping remain contingent on Executive Orders expiring June 12, 2020 and subject to change
    • New Mail Policy to take effect; process to be communicated prior to June 15th

Reminders

  • Members cannot allow Associates, Guests or non-Members to use Member cards to access park
  • Social Distancing remains in effect; Member to Member support to help adhere is greatly appreciated:
    • Masks must be worn in CC’s and other enclosed areas required
    • Site Maximum occupancy of 8 per State campground requirements
    • 6 feet separation distance while in the community
    • Wash and Sanitize your hands regularly
    • Patience with PSO and Member Services as dates, events, regulations, and expectations change regularly; we will get you answers as soon as we are able

Still In Effect

  • Member Card(s) to be shut off, 10-point violation, $100 fine, and $35 Reactivation for non-member using Member card(s) to access park
  • Social Distancing fines (up to $1,500) to be issued

My family and I appreciate all the time and effort all of you at SP are putting into trying to keep us informed and able to enjoy our beautiful resort given all the restrictions placed upon you. We don’t like the restrictions but we understand you don’t determine them. Thanks, again, for all you are doing.

Thank you for your kind words, understanding, and support. We are working diligently with Allegan County to work within the boundaries of current state restrictions. We’re doing this to keep our community safe and not put our private campground license at risk.

May we reserve campsites for area 3 now and just move it forward if needed? I would like to get 3 sites next to each other for our family. We all have been quarantined together throughout this time (I babysit for my 2 sons & d-i-l’s who are essential workers.) so we wouldn’t need to social distance but would like not to have to be next to others as much as possible. I am afraid of waiting and not getting 3 sites next to each other. Is that possible?

Any update on when members can bring a non-family guest in the car with them?

    • Sandy Pines on June 1, 2020 at 9:07 am

Guests and campers will be able to access the park on June 15 as long as current campground restrictions do not change.

In regards to the requirements of the guest needing a paper pass, can the pass be shown on a smart phone? What if the guest does not have a printer? What if the member does not have a printer? What if today you decide to have a guest tomorrow? There may not be enough time to print a pass and mail it.

The reason for this new policy is to reduce close and direct contact with our staff at the Main Gate. We’ll follow up with our Public Safety Team to provide answers to your inquiry.

    When are the POOLS opening,

    • Sandy Pines on June 1, 2020 at 9:04 am

We do not know when the pools will reopen at this time. We’re providing updates every two weeks and may know more by June 15.

Not everyone in Sandy Pines have a printer to print guest passes, and some guest also don’t have a printer. Where can a member get to inside Sandy Pines to print out a guest pass? Sandy Pines Library?

Regarding CC hours and the comment “ We are working to adjust those hours based on feedback received from the membership”. Would you consider 6am opening time for us early birds???

    • Sandy Pines on June 1, 2020 at 9:02 am

We appreciate your feedback and will pass your suggestions on to our Maintenance Staff that maintains the CCs. Thank you.

      • Mary Maichele on June 1, 2020 at 2:34 pm

We would greatly appreciate considerations of opening CCs earlier, as we commute to work from SP for the season. Thanks

        • Sandy Pines on June 2, 2020 at 10:27 am

Thanks for the feedback Mary. We’ll pass this on to our Maintenance Team.
