Winterfest was a great time for people to gather, eat, spend time together and enjoy Sandy Pines in the winter.  Thank you to Gerda Pitcher and all the volunteers who organized, helped plan, set up, tear down, and worked a station to make this event so much fun.  It is a fun time by all who attend and we appreciate this annual event.

Employment in the Recreation Department for 2020 is about to finalize.  If you are interested in employment you must fill out a paper application and contact the Recreation Department with interest.  Please email your name and phone number to and you will receive a confirmation email of your interest and a follow up phone call with your interview time.  Interviews will take place in April at the Recreation Station.

The Sandy Pines Rainbow of Color Run 2020 will take place Saturday, August 1, 2020.  This is a park favorite and very popular event.  If you have a business or are a family that would like to sponsor this event we are accepting sponsors.  We have several different sponsorship levels available to promote your business and support the recreation department.  If you are interested in sponsoring you can download our sponsorship form on our event calendar at If you are interested in participating please save the event date of August 1 and register in the month of July.

Holiday Tournaments take place three times per season.  Memorial weekend, Fourth of July weekend and Labor Day weekend.  Tournaments are available for youth and adults. Registration for tournaments takes place on site, the day of the tournament.  Registration is open 45 minutes prior to the start time listed and closes 10 minutes prior to the start time.  Staff then organize the bracket with those registered and start and the listed start time.  We encourage all those with any skill level to participate.   The more players, the more fun!  Some tournaments, such as pickleball, are a highlight with excellent participation and others need more teams (basketball).  Please support the tournaments with participation or be a fan and cheer on others.

Lessons will continue to be offered this season.  Recreation appreciates those instructors who are returning and new for the 2020 season.  We enjoy being able to offer free lessons for youth and adults at Sandy Pines.  Look for the 2020 Recreation Schedule for all lesson times, dates, and locations.  Returning will be all of our favorite lessons.  Currently, I am looking to locate an instructor to offer a few outdoor yoga classes and a pickleball instructor. Please send me an email if you or someone you know has these skillsets and is interested in helping.

Complete details on all of our events can be found online at Our official Sandy Pines Wall Calendars are available for purchase online and onsite for only $12 including tax. They include our monthly events along with a master calendar of events in the back along with a park directory, maps, and other important park information. Event schedules will be sent out in our Weekly Flyers starting Memorial Weekend and will also be posted at all of our Convenience Centers and park offices. I encourage you all to plan now for a great season and participate in as many activities that interest you.  If you have any ideas or suggestions you are always welcome to email

Is the flea market cancelled for 4th of July? I realize it is crowded sometimes but so were the yard sales. Some of us wore masks and gloves and I had sanitizer setting on a table for anyone who wanted to use it.I can understand the breakfast being canceled because it gets very busy and close in that area and food is involved. Anyway, just inquiring. Thanks for listening.

Yes, the flea market is cancelled for the 4th of July. We were not able to get approval from the State in order to host the Flea Market for July. Thank you for your input, we are working hard to keep events scheduled while following the guidelines set in order to keep our guests and campers safe.
